Hekili has been searching for months for a source to learn the sea language called Aquan. She offers to pay for the tutoring if need be.

She gets her answer from an unexpected source - a letter from Rolof. While raving about the qualities and prowress of his new 'woman' he mentions that she knows the languages of the spirits and the sea but laments that her knowledge of Halskan is "woefully lacking" - something that he is attempting to fix.
