On Metagaming and Harassment (New Rules, Please Read)

Metagaming
What is Metagaming?
"In role-playing games, metagaming is the use of out-of-character knowledge in an in-character situation. A character played by a metagamer does not act in a way that reflects the character's in-game experiences and back-story."

Sometimes it happens by accident. Sometimes it does not. Regardless - we do not tolerate it on our chat. Here is the following level of action
Metagaming can also be contacting players OOC to ask them to come and help your PC out IC - especially in your characters life-threatening situations and the like. Schemeing, plotting, and executing a plot from OOC with other players can also be viewed as metagaming (PMing another PC and asking them how they would feel about going after PC X for their Magic Items, agreeing to split loot and spoils of the PvP if your characters are victorious, etc.)
If Found Guilty: The scene will be nulled entirely, and your account will receive warning within its notes. XP can be docked at DM disgression. If you hold a staffing position, it might be revoked, suspended or terminated completely depending upon the severity of the occurrence.
For metagaming, please FPM room name, players involved, date, time (EST Military), along with a calm and accurate description of what happened to the HDMs and DM Team.
Harassment
Harassment is always a difficult occurance to catch and is often in perspective of those involved. If harassment - sexual or "verbal," is occurring in PMs/FPMs, please make a screenshot or FPM the HDMs and DM Team with the following:
- Room Name
- Name of Player(s)
- Date and Time (EST Military)
- Description of what was said.
Please notify a present DM also so that prevention can occur.
Harassment for the game does not always take place ON the chat. Sometimes, that harassment can be performed in Skype, or other mediums as well. Screenshots of this material can be submitted as well (though we do not accept "logs" as viable proof of harassment on other mediums) - please remember that you can always - ALWAYS - block communications from a player who is harassing you and inform a DM. If you are in a scene with that character and a DM is present, inform that DM immediately and allow them to see the screenshots (or look for the logs) on the incident you are facing. It is important that we keep the chats a fun and healthy environment for all players, and you should not be subject to the aggressions of others for any reason. Note that IC Harassment, while sometimes difficult to tolerate, is allowed - provided there is adequate reason for it (it is not "Metagaming") - Do not hesitate to have a DM intervene if you feel there is the potential someone is metagaming aggression towards your character as an extension of OOC Harassment.
Also note: We take ALL claims very seriously and review them to their fullest. This can take some time for the DM's to manage. False accusations of harassment just to get out of a scene or a situation you put yourself in to are not tolerated and may carry similar punishments to actual harassment and metagaming.
