Did you hear about the Duel that took place? Sir Daedalus Marqueis was challenged honorably by the Assassins Bron the Bloodie.
Let's just say he'll never be head of the corporation. It seems Bron had grown tired of his life as a murder and choose to face off against the Knight. The fight though fierce and the spectators fearing for Sir Deadalus very life at some turns would feel relief when the brave knight would dispatch of the fiend. It's not sure if this was some sort of suicide by Knight the once feared assassin only wanting release from his wicked life or perhaps Bron was not nearly as headstrong as we would expect from a feared assassin or maybe just maybe he simply lost his mind. Perhaps this will be a lesson to those who are young and desperate to find their place in the world, joining the corporation is no way to get ahead in life.

The Shield that watched over the Duel, having been present for the practice bouts of fighters preparing for the Tourney, spoke to his comrades of the incident. Word spread through taverns of what was discussed, and the details of the duel.
"Seemed pretty clear to me that the Assassin was after the Knight for something - the way they talked, and the way that Sir Daedalus was acting before the match...he was prepared for this. As to the duel? I have to tell you - it was an impressive bout. Sir Daedalus had the upper hand - a parry with his shield and a series of blows to the Assassin left the man bleeding on the field within moments. It was so quick, so precise, so practiced. But then the Assassin disarmed Sir Daedalus - took his shield right off one arm, twisted his sword from his grip in the other. One of the spectators was a Gladiator - calling for Sir Daedalus to grapple the man or perform some other dirty fighting maneuvers. But Sir Daedalus didn't flinch. He grabbed up his sword taking a well placed stab to his flank in the process and then brought the blade up in both hands and cut the Assassin deep. The assassin retaliated with a pair of strikes - one stab to the Knights other flank, and a slash across Sir Daedalus' face. Bloodied they both were now, and Sir Daedalus - though still standing strong - well...I feared he was losing the bout.
But then, he did something fierce. He stepped in low, pinning one of the mans arms up and rest his blade against the mans stomach, then drew it across the mans body and in a wide arc just sprayed blood everywhere. The Assassin was so stunned he barely brought his defense up in time to stop the Knights blade from taking his head right there, but the redirection into his chest was little better. The assassin was staggering, and I was certain he was going to fall then and there. Instead, he cried out in rage and lept at Sir Daedalus like he was mad! The Assassin put both his rapiers through the Knights shoulders and pinned them to the back of his armor, I swear I could see the points sticking through the other side - and then he fell, and started sputtering and trying to fight for life. But...Sir Daedalus called that...it was a duel to the death. And he spoke some names to the Assassin - Treyson, Althar, Dame Angelica...something about his father. And then he took the Assassins head clean off - an honorable end to the duel, and...merciful end to the man, who was sputtering and gasping for a few last breaths on his pitiful life.
There were only a few cheers...But damned if I'd ever want to face that Knight - with his shield, he is devastating. With just his sword, he's certainly no pushover. He pulled the blades out of his own arms and just....left. Left back to the complex, blood still coming from his wounds, looking hard and determined...like a properly honorable Knight. Seems though, whatever rumors there were once about the Assassins working with Sir Daedalus are clearly not true. You don't kill allies like that, eh?"

"Aye, that Sir Daeadalus Marqueis - he's damn-good with that blade, and even better with shield... Good bloke, but I'd sure hate to get on his bad side, mate. Shit'd be darker than Taint. I mean, damn. Never have I seen someone that fought with a shield... Good to have that Head of the Aegis Knights around to see another day... Interested in seeing what the Tourney will bring, eh?" said the Shield's mate to his friend before giving a small salute with a finger before walking off. (XP Awarded.)
