The Smoke Monster chooses sides

Late last night the ongoing gang war between the Buckle Boys and the BlackRazors took a shocking turn.  Word is a group of Heroes broke into the Buckle Boys' hideout just prior to an attack by the BlackRazors.  Witnesses say a large number maybe twelve or more Buckle Boys came running out screaming about the Smoke Monster.  No one really knows what went on inside the hideout but after the battle ended and the heroes and the BlackRazors went home a few people went in and discovered a slaughter house, bodies in all sort of dismemberment was everywhere, the cages were empty and most everything of value was missing or destroyed.  Has the Smoke Monster now gone political as well as being a sophisticated monster?
