A city in chaos

*Lore Valentina was discussing future plans with the nobleman in her room at the Hungry Boatman.
But Red wasn't listening, his usually animated face had gone still and then the skin paled beneath his beard.*
<dwa> Both of ye, out of here! Now!
*Sir Frederick Moore looks to the dwarf, curiously, then to Lore for reaction to Red's order.... Yes, he was puzzling things together.... or was until Red had demanded they leave..... which was met with an even more curious look.
Lore knew enough that when Red barked anything he had a good reason to do so, she propelled Frederick to the door and had it open when the first rumble of the earthshake was felt through the floor. The wood above the doorway came loose and she pressed him to far wall of the hallway to save him from a concussion. Red was right behind them with their pack and weapons, nimbly - for a dwarf - leaping the fallen frame.*
<dol> Downstairs! All of ye! OUT THE DOOR! *He bellowed, pounding on doors as he went!
More than a bit confused, Fred, pointed Gregor down the path and follows closely behind in his footsteps, leading out and down. From seemingly out of nowhere, there was a pistol in the hand of the Noble. It was handled with an odd familiarity as he pulled the hammer back and kept the barrel up, but pulled close to his body.
There was veritable swarm of people - how many people had been in the place? Where had they all come from? But the Hungry Boatman was a popular inn. The dwarf kept up a steady stream of orders so no one had time to panic much, and damned if they were following those orders! Lore put force behind her own voice, a voice that even Frederick might feel fear of!
Lore did not have time for the luxury of diplomacy.* <dol> Out the door, off the docks, all of you! MOVE IT or I'll remove it!! (Intimidate 25)
*The waters seemed to be swallowing up the docks as they rocked and rolled, the solid ground after them seemed just as treacherous because it wasn't solid at all. People's teeth were sent to knocking in their heads. Lore barely kept her feet as she ran, pushing Frederick ahead of her, of course the dwarf was steadier but made sure everyone was off the docks as debree crashed into the water and the buidings around them shook. Roofing tiles replaced after the storm gave way and a few windows shed their bricks.
Fred honestly couldn't give a damned less, with Gregor easily making way for the nobleman, Fred takes a firm grasp upon Gregor's armor as he clears a path, shoving aside any who would happen to be in the way, the unfortunate man who had deemed his time for drink, found his timing impeccable, for as he opened the door the quickly moving and large armored man nearly flattens him as they make their way out of the inn.*
RED! *Lore shouted about the din, trying to see him amidst the crowd but he appeared on her off side and grabbed her arm, like a human centipide they wound through the full bodied streets.* <dol> Where shall we go?! *She seemed to be asking Red and Fred.*
<dol> Clear ground! Nobles District! *Was Red's suggestion.
Frederick moved off the pier and onto the docks and stops there, looking around, his calculating eyes taking in detals, people, reactions, situations.... anything which could be gleaned from mere eyesight. He takes that moment to ascertain the situation as a hole in order to deem the proper response.
Then, the smell of...rotten eggs...Sulfer? And smoke met their nostrils as well as the choking dust.
Lore pulled back on Fredrick's hand.* <dol> Rule us! *He hears her say.
Frederick pointed to Illorms Hill.* ~dol~ The temple will soon be packed, our best path lies to the caves under Illorms Hill.
<dol> Is that open ground or a ceiling that may fall on everyone? *The dwarf asked.
Frederick turned, motioning Gregor in that direction, and following tightly behind him* ~dol~ We shall see.
BOOOOOOOOOM! *Screams as an explosion bursts out of the sewers, manhole covers flying everywhere! Buildings began a slow burn as knocked over lamps and candles caught!
<dol> Fred, I'm going to start a bucket brigade! *Lore shouted.* We can't let the city burn!
<dol> NO! *Red shouted.* I won't get seperated from ye, lass!
*Fred looks back to Lore* ~dol~ The city be damned. If they care enough for their houses and tavern, let them quench their own fires. One more is not going to help.
Already some enterprising men were starting to haul buckets of water and Lore capitulated, letting Frederick take the lead. The Dwarf bellowed again.* <dol> Women and children, follow us! Walkin wounded too! Give the men room ta work!
*Gregor kept moving and making a path for their exodus, they reach Illorms Hill, and the caves below it a short while after, a few persons already present, but nothing near the number of the crowd they had to fight near the Temple.
(Search 21) Raegell Firebeard, son of Granite Home stepped forward into the cave. Some one had lit a torch and held it high for him to survey it carefully. He felt the pressure of many eyes on him, not just Fredrick and Lore, but the bleeding and bruised, the women and their children, crying. He turned around and nodded.* <dol> Ye chose right m'lord. It'll do.
*He nods to the Dwarf his appreciation* ~Dwarven~ your evaluation is valued. *he looks to the group and speaks aloud to them* ~dol~ People, This cavern has been checked by knowledgeable dwarven insight and has been found to be secure. Take comfort that you will come to no further harm tonight so long as you can all keep calm and wait out the events.*( Diplomacy 26)
Move on in, *Red told them.* Just avoid those stalactites hanging down off the ceilin on the far side. It'd take an earthshake the size'a Suriel's hammer ta bring this down on us!
*Frederick stood just outside of the cavern, looking to the effects upon the city. Red and Lore made busy assisting the wounded, getting them settled in and then Lore picked a swift looking boy out of the crowd, then another that seemed to be his friend. <dol> Both of you, find the Sisters of Mercy. Tell them we have several wounded here and need supplies, blankets, food. Hurry!
*Frederick saw the boys bolt out of the cavern with nothing more than a glance and watches them head down the hill for a moment before looking back out upon landscape of Doltanbran. Watching the city collapse into fear and anarchy from the cave in which he had led the multitudes of survivors, he knew there was going to be need for answers. The population has had enough fluff and pomp.... They need something to occupy themselves with, other than the random slaughter of persons in power.... They need direction. But, who will give it to them?
Lore slid up beside him and took his arm. She could be forgiven that now, she thought, after all of this. She repeated what she'd told the Witch Hunter so many time before in these situations.* <q dol> Even as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil...Because we are the biggest, baddest muther f#ckers in the valley.
*He seems to start slightly from his thoughts and smiles to Lore, however lightly* ~dol~ Indeed, but what comes after the walk?
But Red wasn't listening, his usually animated face had gone still and then the skin paled beneath his beard.*
