Note: If you are interested in becoming a DM on Dol-Terias, please fill out this application and FPM to one of our DMs so we can review it. Thank you! Also, we will always accept applications, though might not always have spots available. Fear not - we will always keep your application and if approved and if we are looking to fill positions, we will notify you. Thanks so much for you interest and taking the time to fill this out.
DMing is a complicated task, especially on a chat. If you are accepted onto the DM team, you will be looking "behind the curtain" and seeing the guts of what is happening in the setting, well beyond the scope of your own players visibility. You must be able to separate yourself from this, continuing to play appropriately as your PC, and doing your best to avoid being dragged in to your own storylines. We consider metagaming very serious here.
We strive to find individuals for our team that are contributors to furthering the chat. You will have say in many discussions that could impact the fabric of the chat itself, and you are expected to contribute to those discussions completely. We aren't looking for mindless addy-drones, we are looking for people that want to help shape the chat to be more fun and enjoyable for all the players involve.
You will often be expected to be a DM first; people will likely know what characters you play, and you will have situations where people will ask you for sheetwork when you are trying to RP. By no means do we expect you to be always "on call" - we all come here to have fun, and playing our PC's is part of that. However, if you see someone waiting in a room marked for sheetwork when you first log on, or an unsanctioned character waiting for play, it is part of your responsibilities to take care of those requests, completely and accurately, so that those people can continue (or begin!) to enjoy the game too.
It is also your reponsibility to contribute to furthering storylines in the game! Sheetwork DM's are great, and we all love having someone that can simply handle the paperwork for us, but we are looking for people to help extend the fun of being on a D&D based chat with enjoyable storylines and adventures. It is also important to understand how wide an impact your storylines will have, and how long-lasting they can be. Other DM's may be running storylines that will interweave with your own, and often times players will remember your stories well beyond when you are done telling them - this can be both good and bad. You may be expected to submit your adventures to a full DM prior to running them for a time.

DMing Questions
-Do you have DM experience on other Chats? If so, which?
-Do you have any thoughts or ideas on where you would like to take Dol-Terias?
-How much time can you devote to DMing? [Be specific and honest!]
-How would you deal with a problem player on your adventures/scenes? [IE- the PC is being argumentative, belligerent, etc.]

-As a DM, what do you think would make an adventure fun?
-Do you feel there are any elements of your DMing that would need specific attention or assistance from other DMs? (IE- You're not comfortable running combat, or you're not familiar with the best way to create a balanced opponent for your players, etc.)
-Is there a particular element or venue of the setting that you feel needs attention? Would you be willing to take this venue on yourself? (Note: You cannot take on venues where you have major contributing PCs)
