While the Doltanbran Watch takes on a stance that it is a power in the cities of noble purpose, most of the members of the Watch are men looking for their own personal power, a bit of coin to line their pockets, and an excuse to do something foul. While Doltanbran watch members tend not to outright break the law on their own, they often have no problem taking bribes in order to allow others to do so, changing patrol routes or finding themselves "looking the other direction". This is held as the status quot, as trying to change this results in both the watch and the interested parties having their attention on you: often a position you do not want to be in. Their men are often poorly trained, poorly equipped and generally spineless, though they have nearly twice as many active soldiers as there are Shields in the other city. The Watch Patrols the inner city and immediate surrounds, while the Road Wardens (a division of the watch) patrols the far roads all the way out to the edge of the provinces, working alongside the standing armies of the noble houses in order to patrol the nobles lands.
